Session
According to the Presbyterian Book of Order G-6.0304, it is the responsibility of Elders to
“strengthen and nurture the faith and life of the congregation committed to their charge. Together with the pastor, they should encourage the people in the worship and service of God, equip and renew them for their tasks within the Church and for their mission in the world, visit and comfort and care for the people, with special attention to the poor, the sick, the lonely, and those who are oppressed.”
Paxton Church has 21 Elders in active service. These Elders, along with the pastor, make up the Session. Session is responsible for the mission and government of the church. There are nine session ministries at Paxton Church. Session is responsible for facilitating these nine ministries and for also providing support, review, and control of all other organization and tasks within the congregation. The Session meets the third Wednesday of each month in the Boyd Room beginning at 7:30 except for the months of July and August. There are 9 Session ministries.
